So in order to make our spacious 950 sq ft more usable and to keep us all sane we decided to switch my studio into Gabe's room and I took his old and much smaller room. We are all super happy about it and it makes the place feel so much bigger. It just didn't make sense to have such a huge room dedicated to just me and my stuff and for the most part I didn't really like Gabe in there because he just got into EVERYTHING.
I'm still trying to figure out a few things around here, so I have been quiet. But I have been crafty! I appliqued a few things for Gabe for the summer...
Caught the cleaning bug...
Oh and I wanted to let you all know that some of my work is now available on MODISH !! Yippee, there are prints and new stuffed houses. Get them while they last!
We are really enjoying this spring weather and are making ever effort as a family that we can to enjoy this glorious weather OUTSIDE. I love how the warm sun feels on my face, the brave flowers popping forth and the smell of fresh grass getting greener everyday. We made the short trek down to Mystic, CT to go to the aquarium there. Gabe had SO much fun as did we!
I'm feeling so inspired to lead the life that I have always wanted and I have finally figured out that I don't have to wait anymore. I'm living it now. Though I promise when I get my farm(with goats and pigs and chickens and horses and maybe sheep and ducks) I really think I will be living in a state of pure bliss from then on. I can't wait to have a piece of earth to call our own. I finally finished up Animal, Vegetable, Miracle and it really has me thinking about how we could lead a self sustaining life. I just started to re-read one of my favorite books of all time...Sylvia's Farm. I highly recommend. It's so beautifully written.
I feel like things are clicking inside my head these days, there is a subtle change in evey corner of me and I finally think I'm on my way to figuring myself out. What makes me content, grateful and steady. I keep thinking about a quote from an interview with AshleyG a long time ago. She had said something like "a person is always happiest doing what loved doing when they were 9". I have held that quote in my mind for quite some time and I'm realizing more every day how true that is.
Just thought I would show you all how sweet my husband is. This is what our bedroom looked like when I came home from California last night, although I snapped the picture this morning (please excuse the mess). Serioulsy people the WHOLE ceiling was covered! It will be staying up for quite some time. He also made me a cute handmade (and sewn!) card and a gave me my own copy of Amalie. Swoon! OH and he even picked up sticky buns for breakfast. I love you David!
Luckily I have gifties of my own to give to him tonight, An Ashley G print and a new coffee machine. OH and don't worry, Potsticker was not left out. He got a Valentines day potato head cupid and some mini pirate figurines. Oh and he got some new ears too....
I don't know how anyone ELSE is feeling these days but we are a teenie bit stir crazy.
Things that are keeping Gabe sane: Mr. Potato head (I can't tell you how awesome it is to see how he puts them together, 3 pairs or eyes, two tongues and an arm coming off the top of the head)old school Sesame Street episodes on DVD, Goggles and headscarfs (together of course), tambourines and chasing the dog with a mini broom are favorites. Oh and sledding cuz wouldn't yah know it's snowing again today.
Things that are keeping mommy sane, blooming hyacinths on the kitchen table, re-arranging the studio (again), making mini-forests, Netflicks and baking cookies. Oh and I like the sledding too, especially if there is hot chocolate after!
Off to start on my chocolate chip cookies...
