Our newest member of the plantie family rose to the occasion and displayed herself proudly on the morning of the New Year.
I must profess my love for orchids. They are so peaceful and exotic and sexy. At least that's what I think. I am always in such awe of them.
Some of you may know I LOVE to plant and grow all sorts of things and since we now live in the city the vegetable garden is no longer (sniff). SO I am throwing myself into my houseplants, which I have plenty of. Most of which I'll share with you cuz well, I'm a plant geek.
But anyway the point of this post is that thing with orchids is that when they get ready to bloom it is a very slow and exciting process. Something which I delight in. I am constantly checking them for new shoots.
The process goes like this...they are all leafy and dormant (not blooming) for quite some time during the year and then when they stars are in the seventh power and Jupiter aligns with Mars (at least it feels like this) they send up this skinny shoot and then you watch each delicate bud form and then finally you are left waiting anxiously for those gorgeous flowers to pop open and say hello.
The whole process can take weeks but it is amazing. I get such a thrill out of my little planties, so um go get yourself an orchid and I bet you will fall in love too.
